How to Restart an Industrial Robot After Relocation? Installation, Zero Point, and Accuracy Acceptance Steps

After an industrial robot is relocated, the base, control cabinet, main body cables, zero point, tool/workpiece coordinates, safety zones, and program trajectories should be checked, and restart acceptance should be completed in stages.

How to Restart an Industrial Robot After Relocation? Installation, Zero Point, and Accuracy Acceptance Steps

After a robot is moved from its original production line to a new location, the base level, grounding, external equipment, and coordinate relationships will all change. Running the original program directly may cause positional deviation, communication faults, or even collisions.

  1. Key Checks
  2. Check the base, anchor bolts, levelness, mechanical damage, and whether transport securing devices have been removed.
  3. Verify control cabinet power supply, grounding, phase sequence, ambient temperature, and all cable connections.
  4. Confirm the mechanical zero point, revolution counter, tool coordinates, workpiece coordinates, and external axis status.
  5. Check safety fencing, emergency stops, safety doors, zone limits, and peripheral equipment interlocks.
  6. Implementation Steps
  7. First power on with no load and confirm there are no abnormal alarms, then perform low-speed jogging for each axis.
  8. Test in the order from low speed to normal speed, and from single-axis to coordinated motion.
  9. Recalibrate the base coordinates and workpiece coordinates, and verify key program points against the actual fixtures.
  10. Finally, perform acceptance tests for the complete cycle time, actual load, safety interlocks, and repeat positioning accuracy.
  11. Common Misconceptions
  12. Only restoring a program backup without reconfirming the coordinates for the new station.
  13. Performing high-speed operation before the base is securely fastened or when the leveling condition is abnormal.
  14. Forgetting to restore and fully verify safety circuits after temporary bypassing.
  15. Summary

After an industrial robot is relocated, the base, control cabinet, main body cables, zero point, tool/workpiece coordinates, safety zones, and program trajectories should be checked, and restart acceptance should be completed in stages.
