What Should Be Done in Industrial Robot Annual Maintenance? Pre-Shutdown Preparation and Annual Inspection Checklist
Industrial robot annual maintenance should involve preparing backups and spare parts in advance. After shutdown, inspect the control cabinet, robot body mechanics, cables, lubrication, brakes, safety circuits, and complete load acceptance testing.

Industrial robot annual maintenance typically requires scheduling a planned shutdown. Therefore, before shutdown, clarify the equipment scope, spare parts, personnel, and acceptance time. Annual inspection is not simply cleaning and lubrication; it is a complete baseline check of electrical, mechanical, data, and safety statuses.
- Pre-Shutdown Preparation
Record operating hours, historical alarms, recurring faults, and any identified abnormal noises or oil leak locations. Back up robot programs, system parameters, zero points, tool coordinates, workpiece coordinates, and I/O configurations, and verify that the backup files are readable.
- Control Cabinet Inspection
Clean filter screens and cooling channels. Check fans, power modules, contactors, terminals, grounding, drive units, and battery status. Document locations with excessive heat, discoloration, looseness, or severe dust accumulation separately.
- Robot Body and Cable Inspection
Check each axis for backlash, abnormal noise, vibration, temperature rise, brake holding, oil leaks, and base fastening. Inspect internal wiring harnesses, external cable packages, fixing clips, connectors, and bending radii. Address wear and tension points.
- Lubrication and Safety Verification
Use specified lubricants according to the specific robot model and axis positions, avoiding mixing different greases. After maintenance, test emergency stops, safety doors, enabling devices, soft limits, and peripheral interlocks. Then perform low-speed, automatic, loaded, and continuous cycle tests.
The results of the annual maintenance should form comparable records, including inspection data, replaced components, and acceptance results, providing a basis for the next maintenance cycle and spare parts planning.
